Welcome to The Senate Site
Beehive State
By Howard StephensonUtah Senator, District 11 Yesterday I made some comments about the media behaving like a swarm of bees. This morning a can of bug spray was delivered to my desk on the Senate floor. The note read: Dear Sen. Stephenson,
Please accept this small gift for your protection the next time a swarm of reporters-which could include me-buzzes your way.
Just so you know, this gift cost less than $5, so I don’t believe I need to include it on any official disclosure form.
Best wishes,
Matt Canham The Salt Lake Tribune Thanks, Matt. Next time, I’ll be ready!

The Trib: Legislative debate turns into condemnation of 'killer bee' media
I thought Bob Bernick's column in the Deseret News hit the nail on the head. The legacy left by such people as Warren Pugh, Hughes Brockbank, Karl Swan and Omar Bunnell has been tarnished by the juvenile behavior of Howard Stephensen and his ilk.
Though I think Sen. Valentine and Knudsen are well-meaning and sincere legislators, they don't seem to have the backbone to reign in the cerebrally malignant members of their causus.
