Garbett wants to double severance taxes on Utah oil, minerals (Copper, Gold, etc)and coal. He thinks that the taxes will be magically paid by the businesses and never passed on to the voters.
I don't know if he doesn't know how the economy works or just thinks we don't know.
Maybe if he had donated to Republican Hatch for US Senate in 2000 instead of Democrat Howell for US Senate in 2000, even along with Howell, he might be considered a true Republican. Instead the term carpet-bagger and opportunist comes to mind.
