Rocky Hearts the Legislature

Robert Gehrke reports in Out Of Context:
Anderson was praised for Salt Lake City's effort to reduce greenhouse gas and improve energy efficiency, but when asked if he's been working with Utah's governor on statewide projects, Anderson responded:

"I think he gets this. It's just that he's facing the most conservative, backward Legislature on the planet," he said, drawing laughter from his audience.

"This isn't on C-SPAN or anything is it?" he asked. "No. They already know what I think of them anyway."

If the Mayor of Salt Lake finds the legislature to be cooler toward him next session, will he count that as a victory in his fight against global warming?

You're pretty funny.

I liked the part where he asked if people could believe he is a mayor in Utah. I can't. He's so much cooler than the rest of us yokels.

Can we have a little less of the Rush Limbaugh "oh look at those liberal elitists!" and more of doing something rather than whining about one of the three--count them three!--Democrats with any political clout in Utah, please?

It is you in the legislature who act like elitists. Can't you see that? Why can't you just talk to people instead of telling them how to behave?

Stop this pettiness, please. This is why people get sick and tired of politics in Utah and feel like their politicians have no interest in representing them.

Yes you can pooh pooh my comment all you want. I am just a voter. I am just a voter who is gerrymandered out of representation. I am just a voter who disagrees with you but wants to see government having a positive effect on society rather than a detrimental one.

I'm sorry, anonymous (1) - did you infer that Rocky has "CLOUT?!"

I am for change and I am for making Utah marketable. However taking extreme sides is not going to move us forward faster. We need to find the person who has our interest at heart as well as respect for the trust we put in him. What party to choose hmm... Why don't we start voting the man and stop crying about the party. Utah is not getting a better public image when it's elected officials are rude to the very state they represent.

This is what blows my mind about the Republicans in our State; you guys have been Rocky Anderson grief since day one .. for being a liberal, for not being LDS, for not being married to his girlfriend. Now that he made that comment you are ready to say that he'll pay for it by not having your support!? He said what he said because he knows that all the conservative/mormons who make up the core of our legislature never liked him! I have never heard a conservative saying anything positive about Rocky even when he accomplished good things for the State. If th enext mayor is LDS, I bet the Republicans will love him/her
