A well deserved congrats to the four most futile leaders in the Senate!
The real questions: What change(s) will the Senate Majority make in their leadership? And what policy shifts should Utah’s taxpayers expect?
Appreciate the congrats. A few thoughts:
1. They are hardly "futile." They just represent a smaller group than the majority. It is what it is.
2. The Senate Majority will hold leadership elections the day after tomorrow. Changes to the Leadership Team (if any) will be posted right here on the Senate Site. Look for it around 6:30 p.m. We'll also hold a short press conference immediately following the meeting. Interested bloggers as well as MSM are, like, totally invited.
3. What policy shifts (if any) should you expect? Good ones. Of course. Stay tuned.
Anon #1 - "Futile"? Why such ugliness? What is wrong with people in this state? Aren't we all in this together?
No, we're not in this together - whatever THIS is. Drastically divergent goals and viewpoints are hammered out through the violence of the legislative process.
But, Anon #2, you are right. Ugliness doesn't help anybody. I'd rather not see it on this site.
Sincerely,
Anon #3
Just another example of Republican arrogance. Any attempts to pretend that this isn't truly what most Republicans think is a lie.
Not really following you, Anonymous #4. Is it worth elaborating? If it is, please do so.
Sincerest apologies to Utah’s minority party leaders and their supporters. The adjective I used to describe the new Minority Leadership team was flippant and, as both Anon’s 2 and 3 observed, “ugly.”
My point, which was made disrespectfully, was that while the D’s represent their respective party, the have no real influence on legislation due to the number of legislators in the majority. That's the numbers talking; without the party propoganda.
Thank you for the correction.
