Democrats elect a Republican Speaker

Interesting news from our friends in Pennsylvania. Here is the story on Stateline.org.

And by interesting I mean, in the words of the article, “Hell-freezing-over kind of odd.”

Yea, but I'm not sure this "interesting article" has a place other than in a partisan blog. You try so hard to keep this the "voice of the Senate" (the WHOLE Senate) that it just seems odd to have it here at all.

Still a great site, but a little jaundiced, now, Ric.

Anonymous did you not see the title of the site? Unofficial Voice of the Utah Senate Majority.

Thanks Ric for the interesting article.

Dear anonymous commenters: You're sensing partisanship where none existed. Complex article. Interesting event. I needed a title for the blog. It took about eight seconds of deep meditation to come up with that one. Sure, there's probably a better title out there. Suggest it. I'll probably make the change.

This site IS hosted by the Senate Majority. However, The Senate Site has never been a partisan hammer. I guess we could beat that plow-share into a sword in about four seconds flat, if the need arises, but that's not where we want to go. Our purpose is to re-engage the public in the great American experiment in self government. I know that sounds grandiose. It's true anyway.

Additionally, the Utah Senate is a friendly group who genuinely like one another and aren't really afraid of each other's ideas. The Majority have invited senators across the aisle to blog here whenever they feel like it. Some have. Some haven't. No big deal.

At some point we might drop "Majority" from the title and let it be the Official Unofficial Voice of the entire Utah Senate; a (pretty cool) institution in action.

Maybe that helps.

Anon. #1: I'm no doctor, but this might help with your condition.

Anon. #2: I can't do a thing for you.
