Seat Belt Bill
SB36 , which would make not wearing a seatbelt a primary offense, passed the Senate today with a 16-13 vote. It now goes to the House. The new law would be effective for three years when the Legislature would review the bill and road fatality numbers to measure the impact.

Different slogan

Recently, I read that the Utah Legislature is considering issuing spiffy new license plates, emblazoned with that catchy "Life Elevated" slogan.
I would like to suggest a different slogan: "Life Polluted." It may not be as catchy, but at least it's truth in advertising. The Wasatch Front has had the worst air quality in the nation for much of this winter, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. It would be nice if the Legislature had enough time to address this issue, but I understand that their hands are full. They're busy dealing with the evils of high school gay clubs, undocumented Mexicans at the university and "simulated gambling" in bars. I guess my 10-month-old baby girl's little lungs aren't a high enough priority for them.
