Yeah, I really liked her argument that private schools are accountable because they'll lose their students if the parents don't think they're doing a good job. Gosh, why would taxpayers want anything more quantifiable than that?

I think the legislature should add other tools of accountability too, but don't minimize this one. The right to vote with your feet is one of the very most effective accountability measures in existence.

The education union is fighting tooth and nail to prevent the parents of low-income public school students from exercising that right. They know that being accountable will make life much more uncomfortable for them.

That is fine with me. My priority is the education of my kids, not an overweight union's captive donor list.
