Sorry all, I realized in my previous comment that I had forgotten a few things so I deleted it.
"Delta's end run"
I don't know all the particulars of why Delta is against the passenger fees being used to pay for the light rail, but I can assume it is for business reasons. Delta does not want to pay for the bulk of the light rail just to have the passengers that use the light rail use an airline other than Delta. I can understand that, it's business.
So what about creating some incentives for the light rail passengers on their way to the airport. Give the light rail passengers a reason to use Delta over the other air lines.
I'm not an expert in coming up with marketing ideas for something like this, but Delta already has their marketing experts who could start coming up with incentives. Obviously the other airlines may not be happy with Delta being allowed to offer incentives to the Light Rail passengers, but this would give the other airlines a reason to contribute more funding to the cost of building the light rail to the the airport.
I realize that the Light Rail falls under the supervision of the Utah Transit Authority, and the airlines would have to work closely with the UTA to come up with a plan that doesn't compromise the UTA's jurisdiction, but I think it could be done.
There has to be a way to put something together that will benefit the people, and the airlines and not cause the reaction that we are getting from Senator Bramble concerning the use of the fees that Delta airlines would be paying.
