Why is Valentine off the stand in so many pictures?
That is MISTER Valentine to you. He was visiting your mother.
No really. Why was Senor Valentino off the dais talking from the floor in so many pictures? Is that normal?
to anonymous- it is very common for the Senate President to step down off the podium. There are many other items of business the President undertakes. The President regularly calls upon other experienced Senators to fill that role.
I will let Ric fill in a comment here since I am now a retired guru..but there were NUMEROUS behind the scenes meetings going on in the final hours and the senate President was in many of those. Also, it is an honor for a senator to be asked to be the President pro tempore while the Prez is making stuff happen in the back room. BTW......check out the House....bet you will notice the Speaker was off the dais quite a bit too. Hmmmmmmmm! lol
What a fun night that was!
Rock on Ric and Laura.
It's quite clear from the list of media coverage for 2008 we need to get a City Weekly box up there at the Capitol. We consider it must reading for Utah politicians. I'll work on it for next year, ladies and gentlemen of the Senate.

Oh NOW you wanna get a CW box up there Holly! LOL Now that I am leaving! I had to sneak off between the floor and caucus meetings to get my fix. I will be watching on the intranets from New Orleans.
A CW box at the Capitol.....take that, and that, that; you carb eating bunch of conservatives!!!
City Weekly used to be a presence at the Capitol but I don't remember seeing any CW reporters this session. What happened to Louis Godfrey?
Anons 4:24 & 9:08,
The pictures of President Valentine at Senator Killpack's mic were taken when he presented the resolution on I-15 expansion in Utah County. It's more appropriate to advocate legislation from the floor than the presiding officer's chair. Thanks for noticing!

It's Nutrisystem time for you folks now. No late night sessions and no need for Capt. Cookie energy until next year. :)
How can this site be called the Senate Site?
Mmmmmm, cake.
LOL I give up.
