The next nine days

Things change. That said, here's the probable scenario for the next nine days:
Today through Monday: State economists, fiscal analysts and bright non-partisan staff will work to calculate new ranges for a modified revenue forecast. Difficult task. They will do it admirably. Then they will all meet and work out consensus numbers.

Wednesday: The Executive Appropriations Committee will meet to adopt the new consensus numbers as the official budget target.

Thursday:
Appropriations subcommittees will meet to do their work. In most cases they will scale back a portion of the budget increases of the last session.

Friday:
The House and Senate will meet in a Special Legislative Session, as called by the Governor, to discuss and adopt a balanced budget. Track it here. And here.
