Greg Bell Time Line
Here are some key dominoes still to fall before we hit equilibrium with a new Lt. Governor, new senator for District 22, and a new Senate Majority Assistant Whip. * August 27 or September 1 - The Government Ops Confirmation Committee holds a hearing on Greg Bell as Lt. Governor. Exact time and date have not yet been set.
* September 1 - The Senate meets in Extraordinary Session at 2:00 p.m. to confirm Greg Bell as the new LG. You can join us in the gallery or watch live on-line.
* September 1, or shortly thereafter - Greg Bell resigns as a Utah State Senator and takes the Oath of Office as Lt. Governor.
* September 12 - Davis County delegates who live in Senate District 22 meet to elect a new state senator. This date is yet to be confirmed by the Davis County GOP. It's their meeting.
* September 14 - Based on the delegate vote, Governor Herbert appoints a new senator to represent District 22.
* September 16 (Interim Wednesday) - The new senator for District 22 takes the Oath of Office.
* September 16 (Interim Wednesday) - The Senate Majority elects a new Assistant Whip.
