Welcome to The Senate Site
Legislation passed in memory of the 10th Amendment
Holly on the Hill calls it the States' Rights Session of 2010. We disagree - the eventual story of the 2010 session has to include balancing a shrinking budget in a humane smart way, ethics policy reform and a host of other substantive issues. But Holly has a pretty good list.

I don't think that balancing the budget with a significant new tax to remove the need to make tough decisions is very smart...
I'll remember it as the session that began with a leadership DUI resignation and ending with a leadership hot tub resignation (and standing "o").
Connor - you're wrong, but you're also very cool and a good thinker so we'll grant you amnesty. The fact that you are opposed to the cigarette tax is duly noted.
Anon - You're probably right and that's what makes me crazy - two individuals' mistakes could completely eclipse months of intense work by hundreds of people.
$#%@!
Senate Site - I agree. I think the Legislature did a good job with the budget, and the tobacco tax increase was the right thing to do (this from a smoker hoping to quit). Hundreds of people worked hard. The mistakes were made by members of leadership. I hope lessons were learned. Absolute power is dangerous.
Agreed. Two people let the power go to their heads. They felt invincible. Yes, we are all human and make mistakes. But these men had responsibilities to uphold.
Too bad....
"In memory of the 10th" sounds like something you would see on a headstone RIP.
How bout... "Legislation passes, fully armed, with the Power of the 10th Amendment". or
"Feds turned Chain-gang when Duh! the 10th"
Excellent Job Utah. TY
