President Waddoups,

As a resident of Utah, I am one of your constituents in your role as Senate President. Your decision to delay funding of life-and-death medications provided through the Ryan White Act is a violation of your divinely given moral duty as a community leader. The scriptures refer to "the sick," and the proper way to deal with them ninety-five times. At no point in the scriptures is the denial of care justified when it is done by those attempting to kick against the pricks.

Throughout your political career, you have repeatedly referred to "lifestyle choices" when talking about gay and lesbian Utahns. I don't particularly appreciate that language as I think it ignores the real and complex nature of what it means to love someone. But by publicly proclaiming to be a religious man, you have flaunted your lifestyle choices. I encourage you to walk the talk.

We live in a time when there is great inequality among the people. And there are some who lift themselves up with their pride, despising others, turning their backs upon the needy and those who are sick and afflicted.

I am certain that have no animous toward people suffering from HIV and AIDS. Please remember that turning our backs on them to make a point to an administration who isn't listening will only hurt Utahns, and in turn hurt you.
