Senator Dennis Stowell

District 28 :: Garfield, Kane, Iron, Beaver, Millard, and part of Washington County.

To be honest, I did not grow up very interested in politics. About 20 years ago, a group of citizens asked me to run for Mayor of the City of Parowan. I ran and served for 9 years. I love that little town. From there, I was elected to as Iron County Commissioner and served there for 10 years. I was elected to the Utah Senate in November of 2006.

I tend to be fairly conservative when making decisions. One of my main goals is to make government more efficient. I try to understand legislation before me by looking at it from every angle, analyzing every detail until I feel I can make a responsible decision.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a lot of spare time, but when I do, I like to spend it outdoors. I enjoy working with the cows and sheep that roam on my land. I also enjoy construction and built the house in which we currently live! It is a solar heated house and I am proud to call it home.
