Utah’s FY 2016 budget made easy. And bubbly. Check it out.
This year, the Office of the Legislative Fiscal Analyst is excited to introduce a new, interactive tool that will allow you to filter their data online and see both the big picture and specific details on each funded item. You can click on any of the 7 tabs at the top and see graphs of the state’s total budget, General and Education Fund appropriations, and the new funding items by committee and funding source.
You can customize the graphs on each tab by clicking on different parts of the graphs, as indicated on the tab, to filter for a specific subcommittee (usually at the bottom of the screen), a funding source, line item, or a program. The tab “Budget Change Item Detail, 2015 General Session” provides a list of all funded items. You can click on the name of an item to see the details for that item, such as the agency and division, the bill number, and the specific amounts in each bill, where applicable.
As in the past, all figures represented in the appropriations summary are preliminary. Final appropriation figures, including any gubernatorial vetoes, will be reflected in the 2015-2016 Appropriations Report.

We think that the team over at LFA did a great job with this. By the way, they’re taking suggestions as to improvements, etc. Have a thought? Post it here and we’ll pass it along.
