You’ve read the senate rules for committee chairs.
In the past, the sequence and format made them tough to follow. In certain situations, they conflicted internally. Committee chairs were left to make the best of it.
Not anymore. At least, not as much.
Senator Van Tassell, Chair of the Rules Committee, sponsored Senate Resolution 1 which makes a few minor changes, arranges the rules in a more easily graspable format and resolves internal conflicts. It passed this week with zero dissenting votes.
Now we’ll have a more uniform process. We’ll also have more consistency between the House and the Senate (the House passed something similar).
And you, gentle citizen, can now read and learn from the cool new Committee Chairs Handbook.
Just a small shot of clarity and transparency for your morning. Happy Thursday.
Thanks to our nonpartisan LRGC staff who worked diligently with us on the resolution and produced the handbook in harmony with the new rules.
